There are a wide variety of fabrics in the world, from fabric for the making of clothes, fabric for making upholstery, raper, bedding and such, and that is the type of designer fabric that specializes in.     Th designer fabric we el itself can come from many places in the world, each made by a somewhat different process and hence each carrying with it a different quality level,

The best quality designer fabric almost always comes from Belgium , France or England in that order.  That is where we do most of our shopping.  We buy straight from the fabric mill  and have it shipped to our warehouse in Texas, and from there we cut and ship a customers purchase of designer fabric all over the world.

And believe it or not, because of the long term, tight relationships we have with these mills and vendors, we can sell a fabric woven in England, shipped to us in Texas, then cut and shipped back to England CHEAPER than the same customer can buy the same fabric in England.

That is our niche…..that is why we have been in business for over thirty fi years, and that is why people from all over the world come to us to buy their high end designer fabric.

Here a beautiful sample just below.  This is a Fortuny style hand made custom velvet designer fabric handmade in Venice.  You cnet it from us cheaper than in Venice, if you can even find it in Venice.   it is made by a small group of artisans in Venice and we buy pretty much all of the designer velvet fabric they produce, so it HAS to be purchased through us.

Designer Fabric: What Separates the Good From the Superlative Designer Fabric

Tiger Fabric, not Le Tigre

It really is difficult for the average person, and even some designers, to tell the difference between a run of the mill designer fabric and the truly superlative designer fabric.

It’s always possible that the difference between the two lies simply in the name of the manufacturer. But weavers of designer fabric are not alone in this regard, because in our world, there are very few items that are not differentiated by “name”, rather than the quality, and people always struggle to overcome their heart (which wants to buy the “name brand” item) and their brain (which looks at the two items and knows logically that there is really no difference between the two items, but the name).

In the world of Designer Fabric, however, there are many times when two fabrics appear identical, but you need to rely on the expertise and honesty of your supplier or decorator to inform you of the differences, if any, between good designer fabric and superlative designer fabric.

iluvfabrix NEVER sells (usually Chinese) copies of well known fabrics, but ALWAYS sells the real Mccoy, and advertises it as such. In the world of Designer Fabric, one can usually tell the difference between the real and the copied by studying the two items side by side, though after well over thirty five years in the Designer Fabric business we don’t usually have to compare fabrics side by side. This is a skill we are known to have, and this is the honesty we have lived by for over thirty five years.

In most cases, one need only worry whether one is getting the real thing when one is spending substantial dollars for a really high end fabric. An example: We sell Scalamandre Le Tigre, a fabulous, extremely High End Designer Fabric, designed & woven by Scalamandre. It costs a FORTUNE through designers.

However, if you look around the Internet, you can find supposed Le Tigre for a fraction of the cost of the real thing.

When you see that it is advertised to be authentic Le Tigre on Ebay for a small fraction of the designer fabric cost, this is a perfect example of “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is”. however DOES sell the REAL LE TIGRE from Scalamandre, and we do sell this wonderful designer fabric for a fraction of the decorator per yard price, but in our case there are reasons which allow us to do this.

The main reason is the fact that we have built up a repertoire of suppliers over the past 35 years, which allows us to buy the real thing at a fraction of the regular price, and we pass this along to our customers.

So be careful when you are buying fabric. iluvfabrix is unique in the regard that even though our prices are much, much cheaper than wholesale, there are good and positive reasons why we are in the rather unique position of being able to do this. Be careful out there.

Scalamandre Le Tigre & Leopardo Fabrics….iluvfabrix sells them at a significant Discount

Those of you in the know, know that Scalamandre Le Tigre and Leopardo fabrics are among the best fabrics in the World.  When a designer is lucky enough have access to these fabrics, they may do a sofa, drapery, or even pillows.  However, this is the type of fabric where a little goes a long way.  If you get Veranda magazine, you will see both fabrics featured in this month’s edition.  As you can imagine, this fabric is extremely expensive through  any designer, but iluvfabrix sells them both at a significant discount.

To Those of You Who Are on the iluvfabrix Site Every Day….And There Are a Lot of You!!

Hello Everybody:  I am the designer of the iluvfabrix  web site.   I have conceived all the useful features of the site.  I am writing this to let you know that the web site is being rewritten from the ground up to make it even more functional on new handheld computers such as cell phones, (like iPhones or Android phones),  tablet computers and desktop computers.

It will have all the functionality of the current site though you will find the functions a little easier to find and use.   The pictures will be bigger when you enlarge them and it will have a number of new features which will make the site a delight to use.  The pictures of the upholstery fabric or drapery fabric you choose, some of which have very subtle patterns, will be infinitely easier to see.

The one addition which I am most excited about is a feature which will let you pick a number of fabrics, meaning for example an upholstery fabric for your sofa, a complementary fabric for your chairs and drapery fabric for your windows, and actually get those fabrics to superimpose themselves on top of your actual furniture.

First you will go through the site and pick some selections of upholstery fabric, drapery fabric etc., and place them in a Favorites box.  You will then take a picture or use the process on an image you have previously shot, or use it live whereby you look at your room through the viewfinder of your phone’s camera, and see the pieces you wish to reupholster.  Then the new software will superimpose the fabrics you chose for each piece of furniture on top of the live images of your sofa, drapes, chairs etc, thereby giving you a real life viewing of how the fabric you chose will look on the actual objects.

As you might imagine, this is a very complex feature for our software engineers to write and this plus all the other parts of the rewrite will take some time to finish.  Some upholstery fabrics have very subtle patterns and they are paying particular attention to making sure the images of the upholstery fabric and the drapery fabric are 100% accurate..

They have already begun the project and we expect the new site to go live in about six months, maybe a bit sooner.

We will send a Newsletter when the new iteration of the site is about to go live with news of special discounts, sales and giveaways.

We are incredibly excited about how our rewritten site will look and function and we hope you get as much enjoyment shopping the site as we have had in conceiving its new features, AND dont worry.   About 99% of the site will function exactly the same as the site you are used to, so there will be a negligible learning curve, if even any at all.    That is in fact one of the priorities….we are writing the new site so that you can open it up and it will be so easy to use and the controls so obvious, you can start browsing and shopping right away with no delay.

We will keep you posted on the progress.    This will be a revolutionary way to choose and purchase your new upholstery fabric, drapery fabric, and fabric for any other item you have in your home.

Did You Know iluvfabrix is CONSTANTLY Adding New Fabrics To Our Site

iluvfabrix is a company which sells High End Designer Fabrics.  We have hundreds of styles, colors and patterns of upholstery fabric, drapery fabric and so much more.

Additionally, while some fabric sites look the same, showcasing the very same fabrics month after month after month, iluvfabrix is constantly changing, always adding new upholstery fabric, drapery fabric and fabric with which you can pad walls, make tablecloths, slipcovers etc to our site.  We buy fabrics directly from the fabric mills, mostly those in Europe as they are the ones who have been in business constantly for over 150 to 200 years and have the best looms and the most talented designers and weavers in the business.  That is why our upholstery fabric from companies like Colefax & Fowler, Manuel Canovas, Bennison, George Smith, Clarence House and many more are ALL woven in Europe.

Please be careful if you choose to buy from another online dealer as the greatest percentage of them get their upholstery fabric and drapery fabric from China where they copy the beautiful European designs.  Of course this means they are cheaper, but the quality is also nowhere up to the level of the real thing coming from Brussels, France, Italy, Great Britain and the many other small towns all over Europe where looming fabric is the business that essentially supports the town and its inhabitants, and is essentially a way of life.

The skills are passed down from Father to Son and Daughter and the quality stays at a superior level.

Let me also point out that every fabric we sell has been significantly reduced from the price of the very same, identical fabric sold by designers.   In most cases our upholstery fabric is one quarter to one fifth the per yard price of the very same fabric sold by professional designer/decorators.  How do we do it?    This is our niche, we are a boutique company able to buy fabric at reduced prices because of the lengthy amount of time we have been dealing with these mills, and we pass our savings along to you, our customer.   Our knowledge, our decorating skills and our prices are the reason we have been in business for well over thirty years.

Lastly let me point out that we have a full time, professional designer/decorator on staff who will help you with your fabric choices FREE of charge.  You can call her and discuss your home or specific room or specific item and she will give you decorating advice.  She is a veritable fount of information about every upholstery fabric, drapery fabric and general designer fabric we sell and is capable of answering any of your questions………and we sell thousands of fabrics.   You can also send her pictures of your room and/or the items you wish to upholster or reupholster and she will work directly from your pictures.      Certainly a lot more convenient and cheaper than paying a designer $150.00 to $200.00 per hour for advice that is probably not nearly as creative and elegant.

Hope you enjoyed this information about where iluvfabrix gets all our upholstery fabric and drapery fabric from and why you will constantly see new fabrics being listed on our site, sometimes every day, but most certainly every week…..AND ALL the fabric we sell is 100% 1st quality and Brand New right off the looms.  AND no one else can even get close to our prices.  WE GUARANTEE IT!!   Enjoy!!

Linda Horn tiger giltwood stools

Linda Horn giltwood stools w/ tiger velvet on 1stDibs

As we settle into autumn and the winter season is but a northerly wind away.  Our ancient ancestors lived more intimately with the earth’s inhabitants then we do today but the psychological warmth offered by animal fur is coded in our DNA.  With central heating and insulated buildings we no longer need fur for warmth, but oh how we love adding touches of realistic looking, but ethically conscious, faux fur to our rooms.

While poking around on 1stDibs and The Skirted Table recently we discovered some beautiful examples to inspire your use of our luxurious animal print fabrics. Antique dealer Linda Horn’s fabulous giltwood stools covered in Scalamandre’s Le Tigre immediately caught our attention, as did Mario Buatta’s use of leopard print on the over-sized stool in front of the fireplace.

The faux animal skin throws of Pierre Frey are a perennial favorite and one of the more casual ways to combine the look of animal prints and faux fur is for your cabin in the woods decor.  Whether your interiors are entirely neutral or lush with pattern and color the addition of a Pierre Frey faux fur (at HUGE savings!) throw or an occasional chair or gilt stools in animal print always looks right. Why not wrap someone you love up in one for holiday gifting? – you know they will love it!

At iLuvFabrix we always have a wide selection of exquisite designer animal prints and luxurious faux fur to add color and texture to your interiors.

A friend having recently applied for a position there, we have been thinking about Scandinavian design and how Danish Modern and Gustavian periods always feel so fresh. Scandinavian design is about beating the mere five hours of sunlight during the winter. Their design aesthetic permeates our sub-consciousness, even when it’s only the pillows, lap rug or sofa colour that we ‘notice’. We are drawn to sink into creamy white rooms with bits of colour, or pastel rooms of blue, pink, yellow and greens with lots of white – the eye candy, the royal frosting flowers, the nonpareils, the sprinkles on top. Everything ‘goes with’ white, right? And to the interior designer or DIY home decorator nothing makes the room more livable than sumptuously thick velvet dressing a chaise, a favourite chair, the perfect tufted ottoman or an oversized Aiken style sofa.

So much of living well is about creating a refuge from the world for ourselves and our guests. However different the images of these rooms might be, each speaks a whispered invitation to be comfortable and to swoon just a little over the mere idea of occupying such a piece of furniture in such a room. A book, a mug of fine loose leaf tea, the gloaming coming on and soft lights making the colours all the more jewel-like iLuvFabrix makes sourcing these gorgeous fabrics not only easy but infinitely affordable.

This is an image of a Pierre Frey Faux Fur, purchased at Barney’s, New York, currently appearing on page 196 of this month’s Architectural Digest.

Most of our customers have long known that sells Pierre Frey Faux Fur, identical in every way to the Pierre Frey Faux Fur sold by Barneys, with the exception that ours is a fraction of the price.

Let me state that ours is not a close facsimile of the fur sold at Barneys, IT IS the VERY SAME Faux Fur sold at Barneys.

Pierre Frey Faux Fur is the ne plus ultra of Faux Furs, really almost impossible to tell from real fur……but it isn’t, of course. Soft, long haired and luxurious as can be, Pierre Frey Faux Fur highlights any piece of furniture you throw it over as an accent piece, can be used as a blanket to keep you warm, and adds elegance to any room.

Buy it NOW, ON SALE at Simply put the words Pierre Frey into the search window which appears on every page, and the site will take you to our large inventory of Pierre Frey Faux Furs. Have fun.
